We mourn each hate crime and murder, but medical school application deadlines don't change. So let's take the time to process the horrific events going on in our country, but on May 23rd, we do the work. It'll be the best 90 min you'll spend.
Last year, on June 6th shortly after Floyd's murder (RIP), I hosted the first black future doctor writing workshop to help 53 students stay focused on their medical school application deadlines and write in a safe space. We worked together to tell their future doctor stories.
This year, it's back, but I've expanded it to all minority communities: BIPOC & LGBTQIA+. We all need a safe space right now. We're all hurting.
I'm on a mission to increase the diversity of healthcare leaders and that starts with you.
Welcome to the 2nd annual Future Doctor Writing Workshop

Correct. My experience in admissions is with medical schools in the United States. Technically, you can still join since it's affordable and for charity, but the material will NOT be tailored to pre-PA/RN/Dent/etc and you won't really get anything out of the breakout groups. NO RESIDENCY APPLICANTS PLEASE.

Yes! You can use your old personal statement as a template for your new one.
YES! This is a time to connect with your community
Yes, but only in my advanced program called Future Doctor Formula. You can check out more details by clicking here.
No. If you're unsure about being able to attend live on May 23rd, I would encourage you to purchase the recordings ahead of time. It's an extra $10.
If you feel marginalized (poverty, disability) in anyway, yes thats fine, but remember this a group peer to peer workshop so that BIPOC and LGBTQIA have a safe space. You're going to look awkward if you join and don't identify with those of us who have experienced discrimination.
Dr. Khan
I'm Dr. Khan, your new mentor
2020 is a year that challenged us all, but specifically the healthcare system was hit the hardest. As an ICU doctor, I was called to give my all on the frontlines. I worked endlessly, 84 hour weeks, and had the hardest conversations I've ever had in my entire career. I couldn't save everyone, but I was able to save hundreds of lives. Now, thousands of people will at least get 1 more Christmas with their family. The ripple effect of what we do is so profound.
Hey there!
People of color and the underserved need you.
We know that COVID-19 hit black and latinx communities the hardest. While, this is multi-factorial, the healthcare system can only benefit from more future doctors dedicated to diversity.
I can't undo the deeply ingrained implicit bias in our American healthcare system alone. I need you. Your people need you. America needs you.
You're a unique and special person with a calling. It's time to move forward towards your dreams and fully step into your power. I'm here to help you. The journey won't be easy, but I believe in you.
Trust me. It's so worth it.
